The Japanese art of repairing broken objects with gold. Instead of hiding or disguising them because of the damage, Kintsugi makes the repaired piece even more beautiful than the original, revitalizing it with a new look and giving it a second life.
In this series, I applied Kintsugi on human beings, on our disappointments and breakdowns. When we start to repair by gathering it all together, we will become quite stronger and more beautiful. Breakdowns made us who we are now, made us such a piece of art.
"When the sun shines, you see the beauty beyond the rainy days."
This series is about turning some common illnesses or symptoms (permanent or temporary) into art! Instead of looking to any disease as a weak situation, you can see it as a unique special statement that distinguish the host from any other, and try to deal with it positively.
Of course that can not ease the pain that some of these diseases cause, but it's just a spot light how beautiful each one of us is, whoever we are, whatever we deal with, we are all strong and beautiful and deserve to live the best life ever.
"Less Is More!" And so it is the one line art which started at the early 20th century by Pablo Picasso. He took a complex, realistic example and simplified it into one single unbroken line. These drawings can look relatively simple to make, but capturing the true essence of the shape in just one line can be quite challenging.
I'm Julie Badro, Syrian artist, architect and jewelry designer, living in Guntramsdorf/Austria since 2019. When I was 7 years old, my parents discovered my talent and passion for drawing, I was literally drawing everything I saw in front of me, so they sent me to an art course until I was 15. Then I started learning various techniques by myself with oil, watercolors and acrylic. I was - and still am - obsessed with landscape planning and interior design, so I studied architecture which I graduated in 2012.
During the war in Aleppo/Syria, it was hard to keep focusing on painting, really hard, so instead, I started with a new dream - jewelry design, with keeping on truck for any custom painting orders. I started my own line in 2014 with handmade jewelry made of brass, silver, precious stones and leather - from design to manufacture to marketing and sales. I am proud that I made a positive impact there with art and jewelry exhibitions and having my own cozy store!
Last year I came to Austria after marrying the love of my life. Since then, all of my focus and passion for painting had come back to me in this beautiful country and calm home. The only hiccup was when I was ready to start my work here, Covid-19 broke out and my first exhibition - planned for March 2020 - was cancelled. Since then, I've been doing my best with all the skills I have to start all over again in order to be successful here in Austria and so i made my first achievement by being a part in "Brunch der unbekannten Künstler" exhibition at Hilton Garden Inn in Wiener Neustadt in September 2020. I'm so optimistic for the upcoming events and for my future here!
